Patch 1.1.3


1.1.3 Patch notes:

  • Added a visible "bullet hell" or "shmup" hitbox to the character (hopefully dispelling some difficulty in understanding in where the character can get hit by bullets)
  • Fixed a bug where bosses would react and flash like getting hit while not actually taking damage(a particularly egregious example was that you could hit the first bosses weapon and he would flash as if he was taking damage despite it not doing anything); bosses now uniformly only flash/react if the hit multiplier is above 0.5x damage dealt
  • Slightly rolled back a few changes to difficult enemy health values that were released as a quick "just-in-case" hotfix due to difficulty concerns early on; there was a lot more testing and tweaking with the new values on my part so hopefully they feel a lot more fair and/or rewarding(due to the correctly balanced challenge level they should have now). Enemies effected by change: 
    • Stage 1 Boss
    • Stage 2 Mini-boss (just before the final encounter and stage end)
    • Stage 3 Boss
    • Stage 4 Boss
  • The handgun was nerfed slightly in it's upgrade curve during the mid stages of it's attack power. I did not do a test playthrough with only upgrading the handgun and it seemed a bit powerful compared to the norm(at least in mid-game) after trying it, it should feel more reasonable now(if anyone is using it by Stage 2, 3).
  • Fixed an issue where the "Ray" enemies (enemies that jump out of the water and slowly float down) would halt player movement via their collision for a period after their death.

There's still an issue regarding the web export where the music isn't looping properly; this seems to be due to how godot's internal audio system handles audio looping with the "sample" option (which is basically required for web export). There are tickets about this already and it seems like quite a rabbit-hole to fix it myself so I'd reccomend downloading a binary (or PC, non-web) version of the game in order to experience the music correctly. Currently the music will loop directly from the start instead of starting after the intro portion(making the loop quite abruptive and repetitive). 

This will most likely be the last patch but I'll probably post some of the assets I didn't end up using just for fun, cheerz & thanks for checking it out
